did you know I'm still alive?

Because I am! Look, I even made a thing!

I'm still not 100% over my heat exhaustion and dehydration, but I will power through!
robinsnest and
mandie_rw have already put up posts about Ringwood, and I don't have much more to add to what they said about the event itself. So I'll chat up my outfit instead!
I dithered for a while about what I actually wanted to make, and at one point cut out a pink plaid half circle skirt, though I haven't touched it since cutting it out. But I knew everyone else was doing a waist and skirt combo, so I decided to do an outfit instead.

I picked up this crazy plaid cotton voile from Jomar sometime back, and knew it needed to be made into something fun. I went through the Commercial Pattern Archive until I found a skirt and waist that I liked, and I ran with it!

CoPA provides the pattern piece diagram, not necessarily exact scaled patterns, so I took a modern blouse pattern and altered that for the bodice. The skirt pattern was slightly gored, but because I was using my plaid I opted to alter it into nice and easy square piecing instead. The skirt is just shy of four full widths of the 45" fabric, with four inset pieces of green voile for the kick pleats.
I am super happy with how everything turned out! I will definitely be willing to wear it again, even if we don't do WWI events, well, ever apart from this one.
